Organized and produced an event to promote creative community at the Broad art center. Live coded visuals, DJed, and designed the space.

Built a custom floor-seated table for the set.

DJTAL MEDIA was born from a shared desire among Design | Media Arts students to feel more connected as a creative community- not only to each other but also to other departments that share space with us at the Broad.

Inspired by the department's 'Creating Community' lunches, I wanted to reimagine that spirit into a new format- an event designed for students, by students.

For Rebeca Méndez's Word + Image class, I chose to create a performance piece that explores the theme of hybridity. Exploring that led me to the word 'mixing,' and the idea arose from there. This event featured a blending of music, design, and communal experience into a space where students from across the Broad Art Center- spanning art and design disciplines- could come together, connect, and celebrate creativity.

The event consisted of a DJ set by myself, a sound healing session with Natalie Weaver in conjunction with generative audio code I wrote, and a section for affirmations for creatives by Makeda Lutufyo. On opposing walls were projections of audio reactive coded visuals, and a large persian rug grounded the center of the space. 5 gallon water jugs with led lights beneath them gently illuminated the room, with people gathering in small pods to sit on the floor and engage with each other or work by themselves but still be immersed in community. I built a custom floor seated table for the performance, with speakers flanking its sides. I am so grateful to everyone who helped make this happen.
